Sausalito, In My Opinion
To me, Sausalito is like a mythical island that exists outside of time, somewhere off the coast of California. Once you’re there, you can never leave, but why would you want to leave? No one does. There’s only one town…a simple little fishing village, where everything is peaceful, picturesque and perfect. Sausalito is one of those fairy-like places that has always existed in my imagination as a magical island where it is a capital crime to ever be unhappy. It is illegal to be miserable, lonely, or upset in any way. I just know that if I could just find a way to get there, I’d be the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life, but the island is always just out of my reach. It’s one of the few places in the world, where I know I could be completely content, and why wouldn’t I be? On Sausalito, everyone is happy. Nobody worries about money or they aren’t allowed to live there. Everyone has more than enough. And no matter where you live, every window has a view of San Francisco Bay. But the cool thing about Sausalito is that it’s not mythical. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and you’re there. People there never worry about money because you have to have plenty of it to even live there. And it’s so ridiculously beautiful that once you’re there, you never want to leave.
Exploring Sausalito
Just drive across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, and you are instantly transported to beautiful Sausalito. If you’re suddenly overcome with the desire to ditch your car, that would be completely understandable. Why would anyone want to drive in Sausalito when they could walk? It should be against the law to move faster than a light jog, so you have no choice but to take in all the beauty that surrounds you. No, it’s not beautiful the way Italy is beautiful, though it’s a pretty close approximation for an American town. It’s an absolutely charming little village! It has character, and a flavor all its own. The hills are respectably steep, but who cares? The higher you go, the more breathtaking the view. And always, just across the bay, you can see the shimmering skyline of San Francisco. How cool that must be to be able to work in such an incredible city all day, and return home to your quaint little village every night?
Walk The Neighborhood
Move the mouse on top of the little gold man on the map. Hold down the left mouse button and you’ll see blue lines appear. Those lines are streets. Drag and drop the little man on top of the street you want and let go of the mouse button. The picture on the right will change to show you a view of that street along with the street name. Click the arrows on the street to “walk” around. Or you can double-click the street to walk if there’s an arrow under your cursor. Roll the middle mouse button to zoom in and out. That’s all there is to it. Now get out there and explore!
