There’s no place like Rome. You really don’t get a feel for just how big or powerful the Roman Empire truly was until you travel to the places they conquered and see all the ancient technologies they left behind in their wake, like roads, temples and aqueducts. Fully 2,000 years later, those structures are still standing. And if you speak French, Spanish, Portuguese or even Romanian, you’re speaking a Romance (Roman) language. They were everywhere that was anywhere worth going. But nothing is as impressive as Rome…the Eternal City itself.
Exploring Rome
Obviously, I haven’t been everywhere in the world, but that doesn’t stop me from having an opinion about it. The cool thing about Europe is that what are countries for them are the size of states for an American. So going from Spain to France is like going from New York to New Jersey for us. Everybody is everywhere. It’s easy to meet fellow travellers, and I’ve met my fair share of Romans living in Spain…enough to know that they’re even worse than Spaniards when it comes to girl watching. All I can say is if you’re female, watch your ass…literally. As in they’re not afraid to “accidentally” touch it if you’re showing too much of it.
Walk The Neighborhood
There’s so much to do in Rome that there’s no way to cover it all. That’s why I’ve given you a street map. Go anywhere you like in the city and walk the streets to see the Coliseum and all the antiquities. If you really want to see the sights, Google “things to do in Rome” (or wherever), or just look for the legend items on the map. Don’t forget to zoom out so you can see more of the map. And these maps are special…if you go to famous tourist spots, sometimes they’ll let you go inside!
