Bangkok, In My Opinion

Look at it…it’s a gorgeous, exotic metropolis…a world-class city in every way. If you have money, you live really, really well here. Bangkok is a serious player on the world stage. It’s a hub of trade and commerce in Asia. You’d never know there was any poverty in this country from looking at this opulent city. It’s there if you look for it, but they hide it well. If you’re a tourist, there’s all manner of things to do, from exploring the ancient history of what used to be Siam, to a seriously swinging nightlife. If you didn’t know better, it would be easy to mistake this skyline for New York.

Exploring Bangkok

Bangkok enjoys a very high standard of living, largely thanks to tourism. There’s so much to do, but the city is huge! It doesn’t appear to be very walkable. The sheer number of cabs on the streets is a dead giveaway. You’re gonna pay to get around and see the sights. But the shopping is awesome, and the public spaces are just amazing. It’s a lot like Paris, where everything is set up to relieve tourists of their money. But it’s hard to feel bad about that, you get a lot for your bucks. The one thing you’re gonna do if you’re in Bangkok is have a great time. There are wonderful museums, lots of temples and antiquities to explore, and some seriously happening nightlife. And the people watching is not only fun, it’s free!

Walk The Neighborhood

Move the mouse on top of the little gold man on the map. Hold down the left mouse button and you’ll see blue lines appear. Those lines are streets. Drag and drop the little man on top of the street you want and let go of the mouse button. The picture on the right will change to show you a view of that street along with the street name. Click the arrows on the street to “walk” around. Or you can double-click the street to walk if there’s an arrow under your cursor. Roll the middle mouse button to zoom in and out. That’s all there is to it. Now get out there and explore!
