Living in Chicago

This is dream candy!!! Imagine yourself living here in a world-class city like Chicago, and in homes like these. Forget for a moment that Chicago is home to lots of beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright creations like the one pictured here. Look deeper, beyond the beautiful skyline. Chicago is nothing like New York. Chicago is like New York’s country cousin. It’s not all skyscrapers and brownstones, with people living literally on top of each other. It may look like it on the surface, and these beautiful downtown Chicago homes certainly put the city on par with New York. Chicago is sophisticated. It’s elegant. But look beyond The Loop, and you’ll find a secret makes this city truly unique.

People have always migrated from all over the Midwest to live in Chicago. This is “the city that works”. You work all day, get to sleep at night, you party on Friday and Saturday, and go to church on Sunday. That’s the American Midwest. The city is big and dirty, but the suburbs were built to make you feel like you’re still living out in the country. Family, church, and community are the holy trinity for pretty much everywhere in the Midwest, and Chicago is no exception. You might be a captain of industry all day in your office overlooking Lake Michigan. But hop on a Metra train headed out to the Northern, Western, or South suburbs, and in 15 to 20 minutes, you step off the train into what feels like Mayberry.

Chicago’s suburbs are built in such a way as to create that feeling of small-town Middle America. These are walkable, bikeable neighborhoods, complete with artisan cheese shops, craft beer, sidewalk cafes, coffee shops, and lots of boutiques. Green spaces abound, full of people walking their dogs and cyclists on bike paths. It’s hard to believe you’re still in the third-largest city in America, but that’s exactly the point. You have over eight million neighbors, and if you live in the city, it feels like the city. But if you live in the burbs, it’s small-town living at its finest!
