French Polynesia

French Polynesia, In My Opinion

It doesn’t even look real, does it? It’s like some kind of CGI movie of another planet. This is French Polynesia, a collection of several hundred islands you probably know as Tahiti. Bora Bora. The Fiji Islands, or the Leeward Islands. This is quite possibly, the most beautiful place on Earth. And boy, don’t they know it! They’ve done a great job in keeping the island as pristine as possible, while simultaneously convincing tourists to part with great googobs of cash, just for the pleasure of sitting around looking at it. No smokestacks, no pollution, no litter. It’s…heaven on Earth! It seems too beautiful to exist in real life, but it definitely does. You’re not imagining the crystal clear azure waters. You really can see to the bottom…the water is that clear. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of tourism per se. Why would there be? Nature itself is the only sight you came to see. I couldn’t really find a lot of driving tours for you. There were hardly any at all, which actually makes sense here. You don’t come to French Polynesia to drive. You don’t do anything more strenuous than scuba diving, lying on the beach, eating great food, getting drunk and making love. You’d have to be crazy to waste your time doing anything else in a place this ridiculously romantic. There are towns in the South Pacific, but it doesn’t seem like even the shopping is enough to get people off the beach. It looks like the primary mode of transportation here is your own two feet, as you walk from your sumptuous water villa to the beach, and back again. There’s a reason why this is one of the hottest honeymoon spots on the planet. I’m betting an awful lot of babies were conceived in or near the water here. What a great place to start a marriage…or a family!

Exploring French Polynesia

This place isn’t your typical vacation spot where you go sightseeing, catch a show, or shop, so I’m doing this tour like you would actually do it if you were really there. Like I said, there really aren’t any driving tours. There are no sights to see, and going to town is nowhere near as interesting as just sitting around looking at the raw natural beauty around you. If you want to sightsee, go to the menu and choose Paris or London because THIS ain’t that. I’ve designed this so you’ve got your own private beach…a few of them. You can lie on your beach, stroll down your beach, or just hang out at your villa and look at your beach. Let your cares slip away. There are no bills to pay, no tuition, no car notes. You’re in Tahiti because you’ve got it like that. Let yourself be part of the scenery. This is where you come when you’ve had a crappy day, your family is getting on your nerves, and you need some me time. Save this for when you need to get away from everything and everybody. Let this be your mental margarita. Be on vacation in Fiji or Tahiti for a couple of hours so you can un-ruffle your feathers and get your strength back. I guarantee, you’ll need headphones for this one. A glass of wine wouldn’t hurt either. And if you really want to make it feel realistic, get yourself a desk fan and turn it on yourself while you’re in VR so you can enjoy a real breeze.

Walk The Neighborhood

Move the mouse on top of the little gold man on the map. Hold down the left mouse button and you’ll see blue lines appear. Those lines are streets. Drag and drop the little man on top of the street you want and let go of the mouse button. The picture on the right will change to show you a view of that street along with the street name. Click the arrows on the street to “walk” around. Or you can double-click the street to walk if there’s an arrow under your cursor. Roll the middle mouse button to zoom in and out. That’s all there is to it. Now get out there and explore!
