Manhattan is universally acknowledged to be one of the most photogenic cities in the world, but these aerial tours illustrate exactly why that is. New York is not pretty in the feminine way that Paris is. It’s expansive, industrial, majestic, and extraordinarily masculine. As cities go, it’s very young. It’s huge, it’s rough and it’s kinda dirty. But who cares? It’s the center of the universe for commerce the United States, and around the planet. 

It’s really hard to be in Manhattan and not fall madly in love with it. There’s always something to do, the food is spectacular, and it’s absolutely true that the city never sleeps. It’s broad, Yankee accent isn’t as cultured and refined as what you hear in the Boston version. But once you hear it, you never forget it. You either love the city or you hate it. You won’t meet many people who can take it or leave it. Not everybody is cut out for city life, and there are New Yorkers who truly hate it, left it, and never want to go back. But love it or hate it, if you’ve ever been there, even for a little while, you’ll never forget it.
