See the World…Both As It Was, and As It Will Be
My preoccupation with time started long ago when I was a child. I didn’t think it was particularly fair that fate stuck me in this crappy time period, so I’ve always wanted to time travel. I’ve always felt like I belonged in the 1880’s, 1890’s and the 1910’s. Not for any metaphysical reasons or because I thought that the sexism, racism, or their lack of hygiene and dental care was so awesome. I just really like the clothes! The men didn’t look like much, but the women of that time adorned themselves with some seriously badass fashion. You had to be rich. But if you were, you didn’t leave your bedroom unless you were dressed to kill. If you’ve ever watched Downton Abbey, you know what I mean. It’s like they turned themselves into walking jewelry. The advent of blue jeans and T-shirts kinda ruined that for us. Women today seem to think that dressing up means putting all your lady parts on display. But a real lady knows how to look delicious even with all her parts covered up. I think we’ve kinda lost that. Anyway, I don’t belong in the present or the past. I’m a future kind of girl. Or I was when we actually had a future. Now I’m not so sure. I wanted to join Star Fleet. But at the rate the polar ice caps are melting, we’re not likely to survive long enough to make it into space travel. Oh, the planet will go on, I’m sure. First there were dinosaurs, then it was our turn. In another 60 million years or so, the Earth will be ready for the next species to get a shot. That’ll probably be cockroaches. I’m sure they’ll do a much better job than we did.
